BACtrack View App vs. Free BACtrack App

BACtrack offers two different Apps that work with our bluetooth-enabled breathalyzers, but they serve two very distinct purposes. Read below to understand the key differences between them.

Who It’s For

BACtrack View is designed for people who need an extra layer of verification and tracking to show that they are sober. They need to be able to set testing schedules and have results that are video-verified and easily shared with another party. Common use cases include:

  • Individuals in Recovery
  • Child Custody & Family Law
  • Compliance Monitoring
  • Health Professionals
  • Workplace Management
  • Teen Drivers

The free BACtrack App is designed for people who want to know more about how alcohol affects their body and, ultimately, make better decisions while drinking. It can be used for personal use and/or to test your family and friends to make sure they’re making safe choices. BAC results are stored in the App, but there is no video-verification, no reporting or sharing of results with others. Ideal uses include:

  • Personal Testing
  • Happy Hour
  • Dinner Parties
  • Social Drinking

BACtrack View is only available for Apple iOS devices. Both the Tester and Monitor on the service must have an Apple iOS device. BACtrack View is not currently compatible with Android devices, but we hope to have an Android version available soon. Please click here to be notified when it’s available.

The free BACtrack App is compatible with both Apple iOS and Google & Samsung brand Android devices.

Plans for BACtrack View start at $79.99/mo and go up to $129.99/mo. A BACtrack Mobile smartphone breathalyzer is included for you to use while you are paying for the service. If you stay on the service for more than three months, the breathalyzer is yours to keep, free of charge.

You must purchase a bluetooth-enabled BACtrack breathalyzer to pair with the BACtrack App, but the App itself is free to download.

The free BACtrack App does not have video verification, reporting of test results or sharing capabilities. It is not designed for sobriety monitoring as it does not have a way to verify the identity of the person who is taking the tests. If you need these things, you should use BACtrack View.

Hopefully this helps clear things up, but if you are still unsure about which App you need, please fill out this form and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.
